SYNOPSIS 
Set in 1860 - Where friends Branwen(16) and Caradoc(18) have lived with the unnamed curse upon their village for many years. Her late mother's second sight, and her relationship with Margo; a crow, enables Branwen to see things differently than most. So when Branwen's daily routine as a service maid is interrupted  with intriguing news, a series of events are set in motion that take Caradoc and Branwen to expose the curse and rid it from their world for good.

CROWBONES production was filmed over six days in East Auckland area.
Locations were Highwic house in Newmarket, Howick Historic Village and Cascades reserve in Lloyd Elsmore Park, Pakuranga. 
Funding from Howick local board assisted in the location fees at the Historic Village. Pakuranga College drama students held acting roles as extras and featured characters.

My inspiration for this project grew from an interest in old welsh legends and the Celtic influence of my Welsh heritage.
A lot of research went into the wardrobe of the 1860's for the village folk, miners and main characters.
Grade and style is influenced by the 2012 film 'Mackerel'.

The WOLF and the OWL - Short Film November 2015

Love your neighbor, even if her bike is faster.

SYNOPSIS
Wolf want to test out his newly painted trolley, so him and Owl head to the nearby woodland.
They soon discover that they're not alone as three older girls emerge on faster bikes to take over the trails.  Sally, their leader come to a sticky end; so Wolf come to the rescue.
It's time to go as Wolf and Owl head home for waffles.  Life is good for Wolf and Owl; who lick their lollipops and watch the clouds go by.

Our small team filmed for four, six hour days in the Lloyd Elsmore Park in East Auckland. The cast was made up of some experienced child actors, and some not so much.  The crew was minimal; made up of University film graduates keen to do a no pressure shoot.

The Wolf and the Owl was chosen as a semi-finalist in the 2015 NZ Tropfest short film competition.

SYNOPSIS
1960 - Alice struggles to stay visible amongst her suffocating family; but her attraction to Dylan serves as an escape. But when Alice is faced with a choice, her harsh reality proves blood to be thicker than water.

After Wonderland is my 2014 Screen Production Masters Project at the University of Auckland.  I filmed for 5 x 10 hour days mainly in the Eastern Suburbs of Auckland, New Zealand.
I received 2 rounds of funding from Creative Communities Manukau; for technical and post. This was due to the factors that I filmed in the Manukau area, and the history I have built with CCNZ since 2003.
The cast were all registered actors. The Crew were a hybrid of professional and selected student assists.

An adolescent fights for visibility in a world of domestic dysfunction.

SYNOPSIS

In Auckland suburbia late 60's, Alice (16) uses Dylan(17) to escape the suffocation of a caustic family life, which tips her into a desperate spiral for attachment. So after a failed blood pact, and a bungled burglary, Alice reconsiders the consequences of her reckless agenda and its almost irretrievable toll. Only her grandmother Grace, leaves a door open for her. With her mother Shirley occupied with Johnny, and her father Lionel lost in past wars, Alice uses her invisibility to live in a space of deception. But Dylan's motives indirectly expose a family hornets nest of lies and neglect, and the ordered dysfunction of the family is forever disrupted. As Alice searches for a way out, she is left to question how to live with her decisions, when it seems easier... not to live at all.

When Gloria is brutally taken by polio, Thomas sinks to place of despair and darkness. As he struggles with reality he is shaken to his senses by the impending loss of his daughter, Anna.  But Anna has something worth fighting for, and she leads a chase to the death that allows Thomas to let go of his past and embrace a stronger future of hope together.

SYNOPSIS
Sophia searches for the tapping sound that brings her through the passages of the house to where her father sits in the study. He turns to her and all she sees is a giant Makeral head on his shoulders. She flees in horror. Sophia at the kitchen table lifts her head off her arm as her father taps incessantly on her plate.
'Sophia, sit up and eat your supper'. He shoves the plate at her.. she looks down and sees a giant Mackeral staring back at her.

There's more than one way to taste life

SYNOPSIS
Gemma thought all was pretty good and under control at the ‘High Tea Room’, that was until she discovered a large stunned cockroach in a freshly baked cupcake. So, one minute the cocky cupcake was there, and the next it was gone, but where was the infected cupcake?  It could be on anyone’s plate; but what made it worse was a stuffy food critique from the Food and Beverage Board was arriving any minute to scrutinize their menu. Gemma couldn't stand it anymore, she was positive she’d throw up.
In the kitchen, Hettie, her boss, drank from a used wet tea cup once again. Then as she reached for the lone left over cupcake, a wispy thin tentacle raised up just above her eye line…  Funny how a bad day can turn around so sweetly with a crunchy end!!
